Voting
Let players vote for your server on server lists and give them a reward in the game, with a vote page and top voters on your website.
Players vote for your server on server lists like Planet Minecraft, Minecraft-MP and TopG. More votes put your server higher in those lists, so more new players find it. With voting set up, each vote gives the player a reward in the game, and your website gets a vote page (/vote) with a button per site and the top voters of the month.
What you need
- NuVotifier on your server. The vote sites send votes to it, and it checks they are real.
- Our plugin, version 1.5 or newer. It passes each vote from NuVotifier on to us. See Install the plugin.
Without NuVotifier the plugin does nothing with votes, and says so when the server starts.
Set up NuVotifier
- Put NuVotifier in the
pluginsfolder of your server and restart it. - NuVotifier listens on a port,
8192unless you change it in itsconfig.yml. Make sure that port is open at your host. - Find the public key in
plugins/Votifier/rsa/public.key. - On every vote site, fill in the address of your server, the Votifier port and that public key.
Most vote sites have a Test vote button. Use it once to check that votes arrive.
Add vote sites
- Open Voting under Website in the dashboard.
- Click Add site.
- Fill in a Name, the way players should see it.
- Fill in the Vote link: the page on that site where players vote for your server. Put
{player}where the site wants the player's name, and the vote page fills it in for them. - Fill in the Votifier name: the name the site uses when it sends a vote.
- Click Save.
Don't know the Votifier name? Send a test vote from the site. A vote from a site that is not on your list shows on the Voting page with the name it sent, with Add it next to it.
The reward
Under Reward per vote, write the commands that run for each vote, one per line, like:
crate key give {player} vote 1
| Placeholder | Becomes |
|---|---|
{player} |
The name of the player who voted |
{uuid} |
Their UUID |
{site} |
The vote site |
The commands run on the server that got the vote, once the player is online. Someone who votes while offline gets their reward when they join, just like a purchase. Failed rewards show up with your other deliveries. See Deliveries.
Fill in What players get with a short line, like "A Vote key for every vote". It shows on the vote page. Click Save rewards.
Rules
- The same player on the same site within ten minutes counts once, in case a site or NuVotifier sends a vote twice. How often a player may vote is up to the site.
- A vote needs a real player. We look up the player's UUID. If that fails, the vote still counts on your page, but no reward is given.
The vote page
The vote page shows your sites with a button each, your reward line and the top voters of this month. A player types their name once; their browser remembers it, fills it in in the vote links and shows per site whether they already voted today. Vote shows in the menu of your website once you added a site.
The Voting page in the dashboard shows the votes of this month and the latest votes as they come in.
