Moving from Tebex
A step-by-step checklist to move your Minecraft store from Tebex to Minecraftstore.io, and the one big difference to know before you switch.
Moving a store is mostly copying your products and their commands. This page gives you a checklist, in the order that works best, and explains the main difference with Tebex before you start.
Know the difference first
The platform fee is the same 5% per sale on both. The real difference is who sells to the player.
Tebex sells to the player on your behalf as merchant of record. It deals with sales tax across countries, chargebacks and payment fraud, and pays you out.
On Minecraftstore.io the money goes to your own Stripe account and on to your bank. You are the seller, so sales tax and chargebacks are yours. Read Sales tax and exporting orders and Refunds and chargebacks before you switch. If you do not want to deal with either, Tebex may be the better fit.
Other differences:
- You do not need a monthly plan to sell. Your own domain is free.
- The payment fee is Stripe's own rate for how the player paid, passed on exactly. See Fees.
The checklist
1. Create your store and connect Stripe
Create your store and pick the currency your players pay in. You cannot change it later in the dashboard. Then connect Stripe under Payouts. Stripe can take a little while to check your details, so start this early.
2. Recreate your categories
Make the same categories you had, like Ranks or Crate keys, under Categories. See Categories.
3. Recreate your products
For each product, open Products and click Add product. Copy the name, price, description and image. Set Stock and availability if the product had a limit. See Products.
4. Rewrite your commands
Paste your commands under Commands. They run in your server console, one after the other. You can leave out the slash; a leading slash is removed anyway.
Your old commands use placeholders for the player's name and other details. Replace them with ours:
| Placeholder | Becomes |
|---|---|
{player} |
The Minecraft name of the player |
{uuid} |
The UUID of the player, with dashes |
{quantity} |
How many the player bought |
{price} |
The price paid for one, like 9.99 |
{order} |
The order number |
So a rank command becomes lp user {player} parent add vip. A command with a placeholder that does not exist cannot be saved, so a typo never reaches your server. See Commands.
For each command you can choose to Wait until the player is online, and which server it runs on, or All servers. See Multiple servers.
5. Set up timed ranks
For a rank that lasts a period, turn on Lasts a limited time and set the Duration. Add the commands that take the rank away under When it expires, like lp user {player} parent remove vip. Without them, the player keeps the rank after the period ends. See Timed products.
Ranks that are still running in your old store do not move over. Minecraftstore.io has no import for them. Decide before you switch how you will end those ranks, for example by hand when their period is over.
6. Swap the plugin
- Go to Servers and click Connect a server.
- Download the plugin and copy the token. You see the token only once.
- Put the plugin in your
pluginsfolder and paste the token intoplugins/Minecraftstore/config.yml. - Restart the server. It shows as Online within a minute.
The plugin works on Paper and Spigot, Minecraft 1.18 and newer, with Java 17 or newer. You can run it next to the Tebex plugin while you test, and remove the old one once you switch. See Install the plugin.
7. Test a purchase
Buy a cheap product yourself and check that the commands ran. The order page shows each delivery and when it ran. If something failed, see Delivery problems.
8. Move the rest
- Coupons and sales: recreate them under Coupons and Sales. See Sales and coupons.
- Banned players: add them again under Banned players. A ban is on the Minecraft account, so a new name does not get around it. See Banning players.
- Discord: connect your Discord to give buyers their roles. See Discord.
- Look and pages: pick a theme and add your rules or terms. See Themes and Pages.
9. Point your domain
If your store had its own domain, set it up under Domain. It is free on every store. Change the DNS records only when you are ready to switch, because that is the moment players land on your new store. See Custom domain.
10. Publish and tell your players
Publish your store. Then tell your players:
- the new store address, in Discord, on your website and in your server's messages;
- that running timed ranks are handled as you decided in step 5;
- who to contact if a purchase does not arrive.
Keep the old store up until the new one has handled real orders, then close it.
