Ranks and items for a period
Sell a rank or perk for a set number of days, take it away with expiry commands, remind players before it ends and see who has what.
Many servers sell ranks per month. A timed product lasts a number of days, then runs out by itself. This page shows how to set one up and how to follow it in the dashboard.
How it works
The player pays once for the period. There is no subscription: nothing renews and nothing is charged again. When the period ends, the expiry commands run on your server and take the rank or perk away.
- The period is the duration times the quantity. Three of a 30 day rank is 90 days.
- If the player buys again while the period still runs, the new days are added to the current end date. No paid day is lost.
- On a repeat purchase the purchase commands run again. A command like
lp user {player} parent add vipdoes nothing extra the second time. - A player has one running period per product. It is tied to their UUID, so a name change does not matter.
Make a product timed
- Open the product, or click Add product on Products.
- In the Duration card, turn on Lasts a limited time.
- Pick 7, 30, 90 or 365 days, or type a number in Days. A product lasts at least 1 day and at most 3,650 days. For longer, leave it permanent.
Under the field you see the end date for a purchase made today. On a permanent product the card says it is permanent and the player keeps it.
Purchase and expiry commands
With Lasts a limited time on, the Commands card has two groups:
- When the order is paid: give the rank or the items.
- When it expires: take it away again. Click Add expiry command to add one.
A VIP rank for 30 days with LuckPerms looks like this:
lp user {player} parent add vip
as the purchase command, and as the expiry command:
lp user {player} parent remove vip
Expiry commands run within a minute of the end. They can use the same placeholders and server choice as purchase commands. See Commands and placeholders.
If you add no expiry command, the form warns you: the player keeps the rank after the period ends.
Use one way of timing a rank, not two. If the product is timed, do not also use a LuckPerms command with its own duration, like parent addtemp.
Good to know
- Expiry commands are filled in and saved at the moment of purchase. Changing or deleting the product later does not change what runs at the end for players who already bought it. A deleted product still takes the rank away.
- If you switch a product back to permanent, its expiry commands are removed when you save. They would never run.
- When the product gives Discord roles, those roles are taken away when the period ends. See Discord.
The Timed products page
Go to Timed products in the dashboard, under Game. It lists every player with a timed product.
- Active shows the periods that still run, the one that ends first at the top, with the number of players in brackets. Above the list you see how many run out in the next 3 days.
- Ended shows the periods that ran out or were ended early.
- Search by player or product name.
Each row shows the player, the product with a link to the order, when it runs until, and a status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | The period still runs. |
| Expired | The period ran out and the expiry commands were sent to your server. |
| Ended early | You ended it with End now. |
End a period early
Click End now on a row and confirm. The expiry commands run on your server, as if the period ran out today. The player gets no money back. If you want to refund them, do that in Stripe. See Refunds and chargebacks.
A refund does not end a period by itself. After a refund, end the period here if the player should lose the rank.
Reminder before it ends
At the top of Timed products is the switch Remind players before it ends. It is on by default.
With it on, the player gets a mail in your store's colours three days before the end, or one day before for periods shorter than a week. The button in the mail opens your checkout with the product and their name filled in. Extending adds the days to what is left.
The reminder goes to the email address of the order that last extended the period, once per end date. A new purchase that extends the period gets a new reminder. No reminder is sent when your store is not live or the product can not be bought anymore, for example when it is hidden or sold out.
