Connect Stripe

Set up payouts with Stripe Connect from the Payouts page, what Stripe asks for, and what the onboarding statuses mean.

Players pay through Stripe, and Stripe pays the money out to your bank. Before players can pay, you connect your store to Stripe from the Payouts page. This page explains how.

You are the seller

When a player buys in your store, you sell to them. Minecraftstore.io provides the store. The money goes to your own Stripe account, not to us first, and Stripe pays it out to your bank.

That also means the sale is yours: you take care of the taxes on your sales, you handle questions, refunds and complaints from your players, and chargebacks are between you, the player and Stripe. See Refunds and chargebacks and Tax and exports.

We never ask for your Stripe API keys. Your store gets its own connected Stripe account, and we only keep its account id.

What you need

  • A bank account in a country where Stripe offers Connect. The Country of your bank account list on the Payouts page shows the countries you can pick.
  • The details Stripe asks for to check who you are. Stripe decides what it needs, and asks for it on its own pages.
  • A few minutes.

Set up payouts

  1. In the sidebar, under Settings, open Payouts.
  2. Pick the Country of your bank account.
  3. Click Set up payouts. You go to Stripe.
  4. Fill in what Stripe asks for, including your bank account.
  5. Stripe sends you back to the Payouts page.

When you come back, the page reads your account at Stripe and shows the result:

  • Payouts are set up. Stripe pays you out on your own schedule. You are done.
  • Stripe needs a little more information before it can pay you out. Click Continue setting up payouts to finish.

You can leave Stripe halfway and come back later. Continue setting up payouts picks up where you stopped. Pick the country carefully: the country is only asked the first time.

The statuses

The badge at the top of the Payouts page shows where you are.

Status What it means
Not started You have not clicked Set up payouts yet.
Pending Stripe is still waiting for details or still checking them. Players cannot pay yet.
Complete Stripe has turned on both payments and payouts. Players can pay.
Restricted Stripe has turned your account off. Check what it needs in your Stripe dashboard.

The status also updates by itself when Stripe tells us something changed, for example after it finished checking your details.

When Stripe still needs something, a yellow box lists it, and tells you if there is a date before which you must finish, or Stripe pauses payouts. The Where your money goes card shows two badges, Payments on or Payments off, and Payouts on or Payouts off, so you can see which of the two Stripe has turned on.

After onboarding

Once your account is set up, the Payouts page shows:

  • what is available at Stripe and what is still settling
  • what you earned this month and the platform fee this month
  • your Recent payouts, with when they arrived or are expected
  • your bank account and When Stripe pays out

Open Stripe dashboard takes you to your own Stripe dashboard. Change your bank account, payout schedule and tax details there. Refunds are made there too. See Payouts for more on this page.

What it costs

There is no monthly fee. On each sale we keep a platform fee, and Stripe's payment fee is paid by your store as well. Both are shown on every order. See Fees.

Why it matters for publishing

Your store cannot go live without it. Publishing needs the status Complete, and the checkout only takes payments when your store is live and your Stripe onboarding is complete. See Publish your store.
